Volunteer

Cette page est aussi disponible en français.

As a volunteer at WordCamp Europe, you will:

  • Get an inside look at the planning stages of the conference
  • Be an essential part of the event on the day
  • Spend quality time with the WordCamp Europe organising committee
  • Have the opportunity to meet speakers from all over the world
  • Be on the ground, meeting WordCamp attendees from all over the world
  • Attend a volunteers’ dinner
  • Receive an Exclusive, volunteer-only t-shirt

Note: if you would like to hold WordCamp Europe in your city next year, we strongly recommend that you volunteer at WordCamp Europe 2017. This will help you to understand how the event runs so that you can pull it off in the future.

What Do We Need Help With?

We need people to help out beforehand with general administration, and volunteers on the ground, on the day – expect to be both exhausted and exhilarated by Saturday evening! Tasks that you may find yourself doing include:

  • Processing registration
  • Putting together swag bags
  • Handing out t-shirts
  • Helping out at lunch time
  • Helping speakers
  • Running around with microphones during Q&A sessions
  • Moving people around
  • General administration

Will You Pay for My Expenses?

We are unable to cover expenses for volunteers, which means that if you want to get involved, you will need to cover the costs of travelling to and staying in Paris.

Volunteering at WordCamp Europe is a unique way to contribute to and support the event. It comes with certain perks. If you’re employed, why not see if you can persuade your boss to send you. We’ve put together some pretty compelling reasons to help you convince them.

Remember that if you volunteer, or are sending an employee to volunteer, you must meet the WordCamp Central guidance for volunteers.

What Should I Expect?

Once you are accepted as a volunteer at WordCamp Europe, you’ll be added to the volunteer team and depending on your skills, you’ll be assigned various tasks to carry out before the event and on the day.

Volunteers are expected to arrive in Paris on Thursday (June, 15th) during Contributor day. We won’t need more than 20 volunteers for the Contributor day alone though, so everyone who would like to Contribute – go for it.

On the day, you’ll be carrying out your assigned tasks, working as part of a team that we hope will run like clockwork.

Call for volunteers will be open until 23:59 UTC on January 31, 2017.
